Cyril Pesha is the Principal Partner with the firm and advises clients on a range of banking, insurance, asset leasing, property, corporate and commercial matters. He has over 20 years’ experience of advising on East African debt finance transactions with international lenders such as the World Bank, African Development Bank, European Investment Bank and the on-lending of these funds to development projects, and associated equity investments in a broad range of industries and sectors in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda. In Tanzania first, but later in the entire East Africa, he was especially exposed to diverse experiences including corporate management experience of a network of subsidiaries and associated companies and on acquisitions and disposals, debt recovery and receiverships, trade finance, asset lease and, comparative labour law regimes of East Africa, construction and other arbitration experience. Prior to joining CRB Africa Legal Cyril worked as in-house legal counsel to the Tanzania Development Finance Company Ltd from 1985 to 1995 and East African Development Bank from 1995 to 2005. Cyril was admitted as an Advocate in 1987, and obtained an LLB(Hons) from the University of Dar es Salaam, and a Postgraduate Diploma in European Integration, (Europa Institute) from the University of Amsterdam. He is a member of the Tanganyika Law Society, East African Law Society, The Tanzania Institute of Bankers and Rotary International.
